Places to Eat/Drink in Broadway

Out of all the special places to eat & drink in Broadway, these 5 spots come out on top - the perfect places for either a quick rest or a wonderful sit-down meal.

  • Broadway Deli - A deli perfect for quick bites serving freshly sandwiches, salads and cakes.
  • Hunters of Broadway - A charming tearoom with a selection of sandwiches, soups and light bites in a warm, inviting atmosphere.
  • Russell's Fish & Chips - Traditionally cooked fish & chips located right off the High Street.
  • Flipside Gastro Burgers - Homemade burgers ranging from classic to wacky. (V + VG options too)
  • Russell’s of Broadway - A popular restaurant serving modern British and European dishes, perfect for a relaxed dinner in the village.

How to Get There

By Car
  • The easiest way to reach Broadway is definitely by car as it's one of the trickier ones to reach by public transport. It allows you to have more freedom to explore other Cotswold villages, especially those in the north. Keep in mind you'll be driving on winding country roads, so take your time if that's not something you're used to.

Public Transport
  • Broadway has two stations that are closest to it, Moreton-in-Marsh and Evesham. Many major UK cities offer direct or one-stop trains to Moreton-in-Marsh, such as London Paddington, which takes as little as 90 minutes. Trains from Paddington also go directly to Evesham but can take a little longer, around 2 hours. Below is how to get from each station to Broadway:

➜  From Moreton-in-Marsh Station - Take the Stagecoach number 1 or 1A bus right from the station and get off at the stop 'Lygon Arms' - right on Broadway's High Street. This journey takes around 30 minutes and costs £3-£4 (at the time of writing) and runs around 3 times a day. Alternatively, you can take a Taxi or use a Taxi service app if available. According to journey planning websites, this would typically cost between £27 and £33. This would be the same journey back but in reverse.

➜  From Evesham Station - There is a bus run by a coach company called N.N Cresswell called the Rural 4 (or R4) which runs from the station to the Lygon Arms and takes 20 minutes. It only runs a few times a day, and according to current information, it doesn't run between Christmas and New Year's. The cost of the journey isn't clear, so a taxi would probably be best, costing between £27 and £35 according to journey planning websites. This would be the same journey in reverse.

Out of the two stations, I would probably recommend arriving in Moreton-in-Marsh -  especially if you want to see multiple Cotswolds villages. Not only are the bus routes clearer, but it also has other buses to the other villages, such as the Pulhams 801 going to Bourton-on-the-Water and Stow-on-the-Wold.

By Guided Tour
  • If you want a smoother journey around the Cotswolds, there are plenty of tours starting from popular cities such as London, Oxford and Birmingham. These tours don't cover Broadway village itself but do visit Broadway Tower as one of the stops, which is definitely a must-see. Don't wait too long to book your tickets as they tend to sell out fast!
